Sponsorship opportunities:

Currently are we looking for sponsors that are interested in helping the only women's Ice Hockey club in London!

The Streatham Storm Ice Hockey club have three teams: one in the topdivision in the UK, a team in Division 1 and a newly created U16 team.
We therefore have a large range of age, background and level. What we have in common is that we are 40 females that have all dedicated ourselves to the fastest team sport in the world.

Women's ice hockey is a great way to meet people and promote friendship across diverse groups of people. Playing the sport is also an excellent way to keep fit; it can also foster team-working and leadership skills as well as promoting community awareness.

Both the Premier and Division 1 teams were very competitive last season. This season we know we can challenge for League titles!



What do we need?

Ice, ice and more ice:
Ice skating and ice hockey are so popular that our ice costs go up every year.
We are losing players because of the high fees – therefore any contribution towards these costs would help each player on the team.

Transport:
Playing in the Premiership means travelling all over the UK, including trips to Newcastle and Billingham. We need a coach to take us to and from these games, so our players' legs can get tired from skating, not shifting gears on the M1!

Training shirts and equipment:
Football boots and cricket bats can be found in most sports shops in the UK - it's a different story for ice hockey kit. You have to import it or buy it from one of few shops here, who will also have imported it, making it very expensive.
Most current players have kit, but to encourage new players to come on board we should have kit available for them to use. We also need training shirts to have more realistic scrimmages - so we can focus on passing to our team mates, not identifying them!

Training trips:
Countries like Canada and Scandinavia have a lot more ice rinks than the UK. Our players benefit tremendously from the opportunity to play at tournaments in these countries, not only from gaining more time on the ice, but also from playing at a higher level than at home. It's also great fun (!) and helps us recruit new players to come to London!



Sponsor a new project!!

New Players:
We are trying to encourage new younger players into the sport, so we can compete at the lower age group of U16. To do this we require more equipment in smaller sizes and extra ice-time to accommodate the increase in teams. Advertising and mail shots are also needed and are expensive to produce.

The Streatham Storm would like to set up a new girls U16 ice hockey team. Due to a change in the ruling from our governing body, the EIHA (English Ice Hockey Association), U16 girls are no longer able to compete in senior women's hockey games. This has left a number of our players quite bereft and unable to play competitive hockey for several years until they reach 16!

This team will be open to all under 16 girls irrespective of their ability and experience. This will not only be of huge benefit to our existing U16 players and ensure their continued passion and commitment through participation, but will also encourage new players to the sport who may perhaps have been daunted by the prospect in the past of playing for a team with a very diverse age range!

We aim to attract at least 25 new girls to the sport through the new team, and have already received agreement from some schools to advertise for new players through them. We will be running two demonstration games, and holding two free stick and puck sessions to encourage new players. We will be working closely the existing junior hockey teams at Streatham to encourage girls' participation; at the moment it is almost impossible to encourage girls to the sport through the existing junior hockey system which is heavily biased towards boys, and by U16 the level is extremely physical!

We have support and agreement from the EIHA to set up this team, and as a result of this new ruling a new U16 girls hockey league is being formed this year which we hope to compete in this season providing we have sufficient players, otherwise we will enter this league the following season. We have strong support from all the parents of our current U16 players and of course from the girls themselves!


What do we need for this project:
Equipment in smaller sizes for kids to borrow as new kits are expensive for parents if their girls want to try the sport for the first time.
Ice time to accommodate the increase in teams.
Advertising and mail shots
Posters for schools; if a sponsor logo can apply to kids, it can be printed on these!

What can we offer?

We'd be happy to work with you to figure out how you can get the most benefit from sponsoring us, but here are a few ideas:

-Your company's name on the side of the coach taking us to our away games.
-Patches sewn on the players shirts/shorts, stickers on helmets, logo on posters etc. depending on level of sponsorship.
-Sponsor the Player of the Game award at the end of home games.
-A sponsorship banner up in the rink.
-The love and gratitude of 40 fantastic ladies!!
